Logo and Graphics work present some unique challenges
for the graphics artist when dealing with website development. Unlike
print media, website developers need to play a balancing act between
the size, quality and quantity of graphics used on any website.
Luckily, there are many graphics formats which are
beginning to take hold in this industry, giving the designer more
options to choose from rather than just whether or not to include
a specific graphic in a site. Graphics take up a lot of space as
compared to text. Adding too many graphic attributes to a site will
make it slow to download - something that is a concern until such
time that everyone has a broadband connection. We hope this day
comes soon.
Other concerns with logos and graphics are that the
resolution that can be displayed on any computer screen is anywhere
from 72dpi (dots per inch) on a Windows based machine to 96dpi on
a Macintosh. Print media uses much higher resolution which provides
a crisper, cleaner picture.
During the initial consultation, we will spend a lot
of time attempting to get the feel for what you wish to express
on your website. You will provide graphical work from professional
photography, brochures, videotapes, etc. We will be happy to design
a logo for you or to recreate your existing artwork to work on the
Internet. Many times, providing contact information for your graphical
designer used for current company collateral can save money. We
can convert these files to be used on your Website very easily.
There are also many providers of royalty-free photographs, which
can be used to enhance your site or print media. These range in
price from $10 - $20 up to a couple hundred dollars each depending
on what you are going to use the photograph for. We can use comp
images to mark up your site - once we decide which images we wish
to use, the images will be purchased and downloaded. A copy of each
of these images will be provided on a separate images disk on completion
of the project. The rights to use these photographs are then owned
by your company for future projects or brochures, etc
When you use traditionally licensed content, the usage
rights are defined and negotiated for your specific project needs.
You have access to millions of single images, many of which are
unique. The license you have defines how many times the image can
be used and in what way. This means that we can monitor use of our
images and know "where the images have been." If your
project and budget warrant it, we can even provide you with protection
against competitive conflict or clear an image for safe use in the
US or in other countries. Pricing for traditionally licensed images
is based on how the image is to be used. Some of the contributing
factors include intended print run, intended use, reproduction size,
and distribution. Your Corbis Images account representative will
help you to quickly determine the license you need. You can also
search our collection online.
The royalty-free license grants you non-exclusive
use of the image or CD you select, in as many projects as you like,
for a one-time flat fee. Once you purchase an image, it is pre-cleared
and ready-to-use in advertising, brochures, packaging, websites,
multimedia projects, and more. There are very few restrictions placed
on how you can use these images. The royalty-free license also allows
you to alter an image and create unique works of your own. The Corbis
Images royalty-free collection offers both individual images available
for immediate download online and CD titles with 100 images in a
specific category. Royalty-free pricing is based on image size and
resolution. For more information about image licensing and pricing,
